Öblarn Catholic Parish Church
Öblarn
Our parish church is dedicated to St. Andrew. According to tradition, it was built between 1423 and 1466 on the initiative of Abbot Andreas von Stettheimer.
The two side chapels were added around 1800. In 1812, the bell tower was raised to 36 meters.
The high altar was erected in 1755. The carpentry work was done by the sculptor Johannes Fortschegger from Bad Mitterndorf. The painting was done by Anton Pötschnick from Admont. The altarpiece, which depicts the martyrdom of St. Andrew the Apostle, was created by the Carinthian painter Josef Fromiller (1754), who immortalized himself with a self-portrait (to the right of St. Andrew's cross).
The altar sculptures were created by the baroque sculptor Josef Stammel from Admont.
