St. Nicholas parish church

Sölk

Together with the neighboring historic inn “Zum Gamsjäger” and the timber-framed “Mesnerhaus” built around 1639, the church forms the center of St. Nikolai, which belongs to the political municipality of St. Nikolai im Sölktal together with the villages of Mößna and Fleiß further north. The older parts of the church include the polygonally closed choir with its stepped buttresses and the lower tower storeys. In contrast, the nave with its exterior structure of pilaster strips, the upper tower storey with its onion dome and the charming architectural paintings date back to Baroque construction work. The church is surrounded by a cemetery with four initial chapels with depictions of the four evangelists built into the wall.
