Birgit Fuchs has single-handedly devoted herself intensively to Jelinek's eloquent text “Begierde und Fahrerlaubnis” from 1986. The result is a haunting solo theater piece with performative elements about lust, desire, power...What happens on stage is an expression of the thoughts and feelings of a woman. A woman in a driving lesson. But her gaze is fixed on the man's genitals instead of the road. Images of what happened before and what could happen are mixed with puns and twists of meaning. She evades male desire and at the same time challenges it by exposing an animal instinct in herself and him. In a language of female desire charged with aggression and cynicism, her experiences and insights are expanded to a social denominator. The stage space as a visually powerful, abstract expression of thoughts and feelings.
