The highest-capacity chairlift in Styria

In summer 2020, Planai Bergbahnen Schladming invested once again in the modernization of their ski area. A new, high-performance 8-seater chairlift was built to replace the Lärchkogel quad chairlift, in operation since 1994.

Located at a key nexus in the ski area, the lift serves three main ski arteries and provides an important connection to the chairlifts and pistes in the Planai summit area. With over 25 million guests transported since 1994, the Lärchkogelbahn is one of the most heavily used lifts in the entire Planai ski area.

The Planai is now meeting the high demand with the newly constructed 8-seater chairlift, which will go into operation in winter 2020/21. Able to carry as many as 3500 ski guests every hour, the new Lärchkogelbahn will be the highest-performance and most modern chairlift in Styria.

Facts about the new Lärchkogelbahn:

  • 8-seater chairlift with 62 chairs | Length: 1.2 kilometers
  • Manufacturer: Leitner ropeways
  • Capacity: 3500 passengers per hour
  • Investment costs: 12 million euros

More comfort, more piste and more skiing enjoyment on the Reiteralm

With the Schoberbahn, the Reiteralm will now feature a new 6-seater chairlift as of winter 2020/21. Construction of this lift promises whole new carving opportunities.

The new, modern Schoberbahn replaces and extends the Reiteralm III tow in the eastern part of the ski area. It convinces through modern design, greater passenger comfort, quiet operability and time-saving maintenance.

Within the scope of the construction project, the existing easy, wide piste served by the new Schoberbahn adds a new section. Which means, as of winter 2020/21 the Reiteralm will offer even more skiing enjoyment for the whole family.

Facts about the new Schoberbahn:

  • 6-seater chairlift with 45 chairs | Doppelmayr company
  • Valley station: elev. 1584 m; Mountain station: 1810 m | Length: 980 m
  • Capacity: 2400 passengers per hour
  • Investment costs: around 8 million euros
