The tour
Via Ferrata close to the Guttenberghaus. This easy to moderate Via Ferrata leads right from the west ridge. Firstly it leads across short, steep steps up to the Eselstein summit.

Comments:

Due to the long ascent from the Feistererhof via Guttenberghaus, this tour demands both the physical abilities and the technical skills of the viaferrata walking. Beginning at the Guttenberghaus, the two short via ferratas - the Eselstein West Ridge and Eselstein west wall- are a great combination with the Jubiläum and Sinabell via ferratas.

Turn-by-turn directions

Approach:

From the guttenberghaus in the direction of the Gruberscharte, then to the start of the via ferrata. From the Feisterer parking spot, a well-marked and, in the central section, steep hikingpath takes you in2.5 - 3 hours back to the start (1000 vm).

Descent:

On the one hand, you can descend via the Eselstein Westwand via ferrata, or down the same via ferrata used for the original ascent, or along a marked path across the Feisterscharte back to the Guttenberghaus.

Getting there

Arriving from the west:

From the west you can take the Munich-Salzburg motorway, continuing on the Tauern motorway (A 10) until the Ennstal junction. From here take the Ennstal A-road (the B 320) for around 30 km into the Schladming-Dachstein region, then take the Ramsau am Dachstein turn-off. Continue to the Ramsau plateau and about 1 km after Ramsau Kulm turn right to Rössing street (Rössingstraße) and continue junction (Abzweigung) Feistererhof.

Arriving from the north and east:

From the south-east take the Pyhrnautobahn motorway (A 9) to the Liezen junction and then the Ennstal A-road (B 320) into the Schladming-Dachstein region. Then take the Ramsau am Dachstein turn-off. Continue to the Ramsau plateau and about 1 km after Ramsau Kulm turn right to Rössing street (Rössingstraße) and continue junction (Abzweigung) Feistererhof.

The starting point can be reached by hiking bus (in operation from 25.6.2022). From the bus stop "Berghof/Abzweigung Feisterer" short walk up to the gorge entrance.
