The tour
Easy trail with great views and a short, historical detour to the "Pürglitzschanze" - a fortified building from around 1800. The Pürglitzrunde is an ideal hike for the whole family and surprises again and again with great views, pure nature and old treasures.
Turn-by-turn directions
From the tourist office the path leads towards the Capuchin monastery. At the crossing at the monastery wall turn left towards Villa Falkenhof and continue straight ahead. Still before the big yellow building the path leads left up to the forest. Turn right at the fork and follow the old forest road straight on until you reach a large lime tree. From there on the path runs across a meadow - please do not go into the tall grass if possible. A bench at the edge of the forest invites you to take a break with a view of Winklern.

Continue along the field path to the road. Turn left there and continue straight on past a few houses until you reach a pile of wood at the end of the road. By the way, on the right side you see the golf course of Pichlarn. Past the wood pile the path leads downhill into the forest. After only a few meters you can take a short detour (about 5 minutes walking time) to the left to the Pürglitzschanze - an old fortification.

The hiking trail itself runs along the edge of the forest on the meadow downhill to the horse farm. At the end of the field path you cross a fenced pasture - please close the passages again. Please be careful if you have a dog with you. After crossing the pasture, pass a few houses and return to the starting point on the same path.

Equipment
  • Plan your tour in advance and consider walking time, distance, altitude difference, danger spots and weather forecast.
  • Let others know where you are going and by when you want to be back.
  • Turn back in time if the weather gets worse. If you should get into a thunderstorm, stay away from free standing trees and wait for the thunderstorm, if possible in a crouching position.
  • Stay on the marked paths and remember to close pasture fences again.
  • If you are a dog owner: Clarify before the walk whether you have to cross a pasture. Keep your dog on a leash and make sure that he keeps calm.
In your weatherproof backpack belong: Sun and rain protection, warm and windproof clothing, drinks and provisions, a small first aid kit, hiking map and a fully charged mobile phone. Sturdy shoes are a matter of course.
