The history of the horses
in Schladming-Dachstein
Ramsau has always been home to a large number of horses.
The Ramsau farmer was proud of his horses, as they were considered a symbol of a profitable, even wealthy farm.
In the past, the horses were mainly used as work animals for field work, woodwork and carts.
Nowadays, the tradition of horse breeding is still present, but the benefits of the animals are completely different.
Now the animals are more of an attraction in equestrian sports, on sleigh and carriage rides and at the annual spring horse festival in Ramsau am Dachstein.
