A highlight is the open-air performance of "Die Hochzeit" - the original by the Öblarn local poet Paula Grogger. Tradition and culture are brought to life in the villages of Öblarn and Niederöblarn. The association Kunst und Kulturhaus Öblarn [ku:L] offers numerous events for all culture enthusiasts. Those who want to fly high in the air will find their place at the Alpine Flying School Niederöblarn, whether it be a sightseeing flight, aerobatics or a trial flight.

Öblarner Krampus game

Every year in early december the traditional Krampus spectacle will be performed at Öblarns market place. Children needn´t got to be scary of birch strike, like in former times, because our ethnic spectacle don´t convey cruelty. Viewers will get in touch to old tradition 'without' fear. Mystic figures like 'Schab' (man wrapped in straw, snapping their whips in cycle beat), 'Graßteufel' (wood-demon with brushwood costume) and 'Flechtenmann' (a wild man draped all over with long plat of trees) will be effeWhen the traditional Krampus play is performed every year at the beginning of December on the market square in Öblarn, all children can watch with a clear conscience. The rod is not used because this primitive spectacle is not intended to convey violence but rather to be an old custom for attacking. "Schab", "Graßteufel" and "Flechtenmann" ensure a spooky, beautiful Krampus atmosphere for all families and the "Summer-Winter Play" is also performed.
With his original texts from the 18th century. it is one of the last folk plays of this kind in Styria.
The Öblarner Krampus Game, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014, delights young and old alike every year with its customs and traditions.cting a scary-beautiful atmosphere to the audiance.    The quarrel between summer and winter will also be performed. The Krampus spectacle of Öblarn, based on text of 18th century, is one of the last folk-spectacles of this kind in Styria.
