THE FAREWELL DINNER

A comedy by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière

“A friend, a good friend, that's the best thing in the world!” ...
But what do you do with friendships that have become more of a burden than a pleasure? Then simply organize a “farewell dinner”. Cook up another big meal for your unsuspecting friends, serve them the best wine, rave about the good old days and then simply never contact them again. Pierre and his wife Clotilde also take up this idea to clean out their circle of friends. They decide to end their friendship with Pierre's eccentric friends Bea and Antoine and invite them to one last evening. But Antoine arrives without Bea and needs a letter of recommendation from the hosts for an upcoming adoption. He hits them on the wrong foot, starts to smell a rat and finds himself at a farewell dinner. Everything turns out differently than planned and some unpleasant truths come to light.
Take a whole bag full of clever punchlines, spice it all up with a good dose of wit and a few peanuts and you have a witty, fast-paced comedy. Bon appétit!
In their latest work, the writing duo Delaporte and de la Patellière shed light on the different sides of the fashionable optimization of friendships. As in their worldwide success THE BEFORE NAME, the two reveal the sensitivities bubbling beneath the surface with a great deal of wit and dashing sensitivity and show once again that idiosyncrasy is the salt in the soup of interpersonal relationships.
