Enjoy Styrian hospitality at the hight of 1.656m above sea level at the edge of the Klafferkessel in the heart of the Schladminger Tauern mountain chain between mid of June and the beginning of October.

The Preintalerhut is beautifully placed in the heart of the Schladminger -Tauern and ideal for a single-day-tour, perfectly used as a starting point for several passages and mountain summits and also a famous base for the hikers of the high-altitude-trail in the mountain chained called the Lower Tauern.The Preintalerhütte offers you about 140 overnight lodging possibilities, and Family Höflehner will cater with pleasure for your well-being with selfmade local top quality specialities including meals and refreshments!

Outgoing from the Seeleiten car park at the restaurant Riesachfall in the Untertal near Schladming you will reach Preintalerhütte within 2,5 hours. The ones who are tough enough will surely choose the alpine trail called „die Höll“ (the hell) and spy out the imposing Riesach Waterfall- the highest waterfall in Styria thundering down in two stages and 140 meters- and master the core of this alpine path: a 50 meters long cable-foot-bridge over the canyon. If this sounds too adventurous for you, you can also walk along the forest lane. At the climb-out of the alpine trail you will come together again and there is the Gfölleralm and the deep-green Riesach Lake: Follow the flat broad path along the Riesach Lake, passing pleasant alpine huts and meadows. After the Kotalm there is a small leisurely ascent with stony steps up to the Preintalerhütte (last part of the trail about 45 minutes).
