Film presentation “On the Jerusalem Way”
Kulturhalle Gröbming
The live moderated FILMVORTRAG / KINO was created from 15,000 photos and 20 hours of film material in collaboration with an ORF employee. The deliberately meditative film lecture is presented on a large screen in HD quality (either 6 or 8 meter wide large screen, 16:9 format) with sound in Dolby Surround on 6 loudspeakers. Duration is about 2 hours, with a break in between at the Dardanelles (border between Europe and Asia).
The JERUSALEM WAY is the longest peace route and also the longest pilgrimage route in the world and was born out of a vision in 2006. As an international cultural route, the path leads from the end of Europe in Finisterre to the beginning in Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the most important place for Christians and Jews, a holy place for Muslims and is regarded as the crossroads of the world's religions.
The pilgrim passes through countries of all three monotheistic religions and the most diverse cultures on the long journey to Jerusalem and is, in the most original sense of the word, a stranger in a strange land (Peregrinus). The pilgrim gets to know the great hospitality, be it in the countries in the Balkans, in Turkey, in Jordan or in Palestine & Israel.
As a pilgrim of peace, a pilgrim of hope, he breaks down his own prejudices and builds bridges to people, doing peace work at grassroots level for the human family.
During the film presentation, the entire “Balkan route” can be experienced live, the route 1700 km across Turkey and through the whole of Syria from north to south, just as it was there shortly before the war began in 2010. We were able to record cultural assets, some of which are now completely destroyed, and also the Lord's Prayer, prayed by a woman in Aramaic! See impressions in the video Syria
The Jerusalem Way follows historical paths as well as new paths, including the traces of the Third Crusade and the paths of the Apostle Paul as well as important stations in the life of Mother Teresa in the Balkans. Historically, for example, in Kosovo, the Field of Blackbirds, where the decisive battle between the Serbs and the Ottomans took place in 1389; Ephesus, the most important archaeological site in Asia Minor; Iconium in the Taurus Mountains, where the army of the Third Crusade under Emperor Frederick I was almost completely defeated in 1190. “Barbarossa” was almost completely routed; the Trojan War, where Achilles met his death and the world-famous Trojan horse stands; four of the seven Christian churches of origin from the Revelation of John / Apocalypse; Antioch on the Orontes with probably the oldest Christian church; etc. There are also several tombs of the apostles, a number of important historical sites and UNESCO World Heritage Sites on the way to the Holy Land.
