Stroller Trail Reiteralm
łatwe Baby carriage routes · Schladming
This short walking loop at Reiteralm is perfect for the whole family. The route, which is suitable for buggies runs along gravel trail and a short section of gravel road. You reach the starting point via Preunegg-Jet cable car from Bankwirt inn in Preuneggtal. On top, at Gasselhöh-Hütte and Reiteralmhütte the walking route takes you to the "Summer Snow" exhibition, Reiteralmsee Lake and the "Summer Snow Groomer".
The short tour starts at the mountain terminal of Preunegg-Jet cable car (car parking at Gasselhöh'-Hütte Inn respectively) on Reiteralm. Left of Reiteralmsee Lake you head down to the pump building below the lake where the exhibition "Summer Snow" is situated. Here you get interesting information about machine snow in winter.
From the building you cross the meadow (in winter a ski piste) and follow the trail into a timber forest to a hidden view point with benches for a rest. Via some turns you walk downhill for a bit and then cross over the meadow again and reach a small pond. Here the trail to Untersee Lake branches off.
From the small pond you walk up via 2 turns and cross over a meadow (a ski piste in winter) towards Reiteralmhütte Inn. After a short walk uphill you reach the trail head at the mountain terminal of Preunegg-Jet cable car again.
Exit from federal highway B320 in Pichl (4 km West of Schladming) and continue on Preuneggstraße to the valley terminal of Preunegg-Jet cable car. From there you can also drive up to Reiteralm via Reiteralmstraße road (a toll road from Almdorf Reiteralm), which ends at Gasselhöh'-Hütte Inn.
Bus of Ramsauer Verkehrsbetriebe to the valley terminal of Preunegg-Jet cable car (Tuesday, Friday and Sunday). Then continue with the cable-car to Reiteralm (operating times at www.reiteralm.at).

Changes in weather patterns, quick falls in temperature, thunderstorms, wind, fog and snow are some of the dangers that can be encountered on a hiking tour. Hosts of alpine huts and mountain refuges have a lot of experience in the mountains and can give good advice about weather and the trails. Poor equipment, overestimation of one's own capabilities, carelessness, poor personal constitution and/or wrong judgement can lead to critical situations. In case of thunderstorms: avoid summits, ridges and steel ropes.
GPS data and orienteering
Available GPS data - just like hiking maps - is only a guidance for orientation and can never depict a trail exactly with all its details. Especially at dangerous spots it is essential to judge on site how to proceed.
In an emergency please call:
- 140 - for Alpine emergencies (all over Austria)
- 112 - European GSM emergency number
Hiking or trekking shoes with grip sole, jacket.
The trail is also suitable for prams.
Take a look at the "Adventure Gondola World" which is near the small walking loop, close to Reiteralmhütte inn.
