Paula Grogger´s play "The Wedding"

Hauptplatz Öblarn

ATTENTION! The event has already taken place.

When Paula Grogger's play "The Wedding" takes the audience and actors back to the year 1821, an entire town becomes a stage.

Over 300 amateur actors take part in Paula Grogger's play "The Wedding", making it the largest amateur theater production in the Alpine region.

At the center of the plot is Archduke Johann, who was a guest in Öblarn in 1821 as best man to the groom of Gstatt and used the wedding as an opportunity to meet his beloved Anna Plochl. Lively hustle and bustle on the picturesque market square, many conversations about secret love and the worries and hardships of the population and customs that have almost been forgotten are wrapped like a cloak around the plot, which reaches its climax in the "homage" to Archduke Johann, the good spirit of the Styrians!
